Personal development, health and physical education

PDHPE Years 7-10

Mandatory PDHPE course covering a range of theory based subjects  that include healthy relationships, bullying, mental health, health consumerism, drug education, road safety. Practical based courses include; soccer, t-ball, cricket, fitness, touch football, basketball, netball, AFL, Indigenous games and modified games. 

Stage 5 (Years 9 -10) Elective - Physical Activity and Sport Studies

Stage 5 PASS enables students to further advance their knowledge and skills relating to the study of sport. Subjects taught include; Event Management, Coaching, Outdoor Recreation, Nutrition and Physical Activity, Body Systems.

Students are encouraged to coordinate an event that links to the theory content, coach students from various abilities and year groups, participate in wheelchair basketball and golf programs.

Stage 6 Sports, Lifestyle & Recreation (SLR) 1 Unit/ 2 Unit (Non ATAR Course)

The study of Sports, Lifestyle & Recreation provides students with knowledge, understanding and skills that form a valuable foundation for the range of courses at university and other tertiary institutions.

SLR is a practical dominant subject made up of 80% practical and 20% theory.

First Aid Sport Injuries

Social perspectives of Games and Sports

Modules taught in 2 Unit SLR:

Stage 6  (Years 11-12)- Preliminary and HSC 2 unit PDHPE

Units covered in Year 11 Preliminary include; Better Health for Individuals, The Body in Motion, Fitness Choices and First Aid.

Units covered in the HSC course include; Factors Affecting Performance, Health Priorities in Australia, Sports Medicine, Improving Performance and The Health of Young people.

Students are offered the opportunity to complete their First Aid and CPR accreditation, which is nationally recognised.

 

In Year 11 and 12, courses available include:

  • Community and Family Studies
  • Exploring Early Childhood
  • Personal Development, Health and Physical Education
  • Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation Studies.
